The Cafeteria 2935 Colonial Drive, Columbia, United StatesIn support of our diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, we are so fortunate to have Karle Wilkes, an internationally renowned artist visit Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Columbia on February 17th, 2023 at 12:00 pm. Karl Wilkes "The Artist" was born in Fort Bragg, NC and began his career as the personal artist to the Mother of the Civil Rights Movement, Rosa Parks. He has gained national attention with his masterpiece, "History Lesson #5", which has been displayed in the Smithsonian and been endorsed by Chief Whip, Congressman James Clyburn and Congress of the United States. Collector of Karl's art range from former President George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Prince, Muhammad Ali and many more. He has recently received eight Karl W Wilkes Day all being awarded the Key to the City of various cities, including Columbia, SC. He believes that through the universal language of art and history, life's lesson can not only be visualized, but also better understood.
